According to my join date I’ve been playing here for three years. No too bad at all considering my average staying power for PWs was previously considerably less time. (Longer even than my stay at Exodus which was my most played PW.) Well done ALFA. Here, have a cookie.
(Also, my personal record of never having lost a PC in any PW to anything other than voluntary retirement remains intact.)
There comes a time when the ‘B-game’ takes up more of ones game time than the ‘A-game’, and concomitantly the tendency to get sucked into the more negative aspects of playing in a game such as this. My line drawn in the sand for avoiding this tipping point was crossed some time ago but I resisted the urge to bail in the hope that the pendulum might being to make its return journey. Well, it didn’t. In fact it pulled off a stomach churning 360 deg. revolution, collecting energy rather than expending it. Well done ALFA for defying the laws of thermodynamics. Here, have another cookie.
To those I’ve met and enjoyed playing with: hats off and I wish you all the best. To those who tirelessly and often thanklessly keep the engine running: top job and may ALFA continue to trundle on under your ministrations. To the DMs whom have taken the time to run stuff for me: I remain grateful for your time. To those whom I’ve not seen eye-to-eye with over the years: Vive la difference. To the Goons of SA: may a million fleas infest your undergarments.
I’d like to say that one day we might meet again in another hardcore RP PW somewhere but if I’m honest I’d say that’s highly unlikely as such games are no longer in the interests of developers to produce – they simply aren’t high money earners. NWN2 may well have been the last of its kind. Never say never though.
Keep the fire inside burning. I know I will be, but by being sat around the table RPing with friends rather than via my computer screen; in many ways, the way such things were always meant to be played.
