Notice: BG server down for an indeterminate period

As I'm sure most of you have noticed, ALFA Server #010 - Baldur's Gate has been offline since late on Monday, October 29th. BG is hosted by wvincenti, who's home lost electrical power due to Hurricane Sandy. wvincenti has checked in and is well, but does not yet have any estimate of when power may be restored. We wish him well, and offer our continuing thanks for his contributions to the ALFA community.
Until BG gets back online, all BG players are encouraged to log on to one of the other Live ALFA servers - Western Heartlands, Moonshaes, or Silver Marches. All of ALFA's DMs will happily validate you under the current circumstances, to let you get on with your game.
My thoughts go out to all those affected by the storm, and my hopes for a speedy and safe recovery.

Hang in there, people. Take care of what's important first.

I'm still waiting for the lights to come back on.
Luckily I've got friends nearby who have hot water so life won't get too uncomfortable.

The erudite word from my power utility. Estimated to be what I wonder?
An outage has been reported and restoration is estimated to be by 11:59 PM on 11-09-2012.
Thank you for your patience
If my plane gets me to Atlanta on time tomorrow I'll at least be warm over the weekend, after that crashing on a friend's couch nearby. All in all, I'm one of the lucky ones.
After that I'll start getting on my condo association in a big way about getting a big solar installation on the rooftops of the development. It would be money in the bank and keep us warm at a time like this.

How far can solar installations fly when torn from a roof in a cyclone?

Well I saw a 20' car port get blown 100 yards this Summer in one little microburst, so I'd imagine a long way. Still, if I can talk my development into putting panels on all off the rooftops I'll be quite pleased.

go for it, there are huge tax incentives, and we rarely get massive storms, usually it's down trees that take out power.
good luck man.

Hey there folks,
I'm back and life is returning to normal. I've got electricity, heat and Internet at home again.
Now to sort out getting the DMs into the server.

Looks like wvincenti, BG DMs and the ALFA Tech department got the server back up and running. Thanks to all.
