You know the drill people, another month, another election!

This time, this thread serves for self-nominations for the position of Technical Administrator, period November 2012 - May 2013.

All members in good standing can run. The voting constituency are the DMs, HDMs, staff heads and Administrators.

As usual, self-nominations shall last for 7 days. Please do not use this thread for anything else.

Any problems or questions, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Cheers and a merry election to everyone,

With only a few hours to go on this round of self-nominations, no new candidates, and the incumbent having expressed no desire to run, I am starting a new self-nomination period to last for another 7 days.

Doing it slightly early is obviously to foil Heero's plans of coasting to a last-minute write-in victory.

In order to increase interest, or dispel some doubts, I will give a brief overview of the TA. The charter names the TA's responsibilities as:
ACR/HAK and other in-game coding, scripting, and software issues.
So obviously, scripting and technical skills with NWN2's and ALFA's game and database structure are very helpful to bring to the job. They are, however, not a hard requirement; a willingness to learn could be facilitated by our technical volunteers, HDMs, and other Administrators. If you are thinking about running, but are unsure, I suggest you talk to the current tech people (e.g. BasilicaSoul, Ronan, FoamBats4All, Zelknolf, Riotnnrd) to see if they would be willing to work with you. Teamwork and communication skills, and working constructively with the fellow Administrators - especially on issues where matters could touch on other interests (the IA for vault infrastructure, the PA for player concerns, the DMA for game balance) - are of vital importance.

Furthermore, as a leader of our community, you would be expected to adhere to some unwritten rules of a higher standard, and should bring some leadership qualities - such as the ability to take responsibility, act maturely and with moderation, put your personal interest second, and the ability to argue your opinions, and explain your decisions, in a clear and constructive fashion.

What you get out of the job is, admittedly, very little. It is a duty and a service to our community rather than a prestigious privilege, but it does enable you to bring your thoughts and ideas into a process, and work together with your fellow Administrators, and the technical team, for the improvement of ALFA. There are many neat additions and improvements to the game that could be done here (as many past TAs and their teams have proven), giving you the satisfaction of having a smoother game to enjoy, and helping out the community at large. If you have some technical talent, and people skills to boot, you should not feel embarrassed about considering running in earnest.

For any further questions, do not hesitate to ask the tech buffs as well as TA, DMA, PA and IA. I'm of course happy to answer any of your questions, as well.

Cheers,

Fine, I'll do this crap again. I hate you all (especially you, Veilan).

I really wish we had a Basilica for this. Where can we pick up another of them?

After getting rather significant pressure from my team, I am convinced to run for another term as TA.

Platform is the same as the last three times; Zelknolf delivers on all claims, and hates you all unconditionally.

With a mystical transition from 0 to 2 candidates, polling has now begun:

If there are any problems or questions, please contact me.

Thanks to the candidates for volunteering.

With a result of 14 Ronan and 5 Zelknolf,

Ronan will serve as TA for the period of November 2012 - May 2013.

Thanks very much to both candidates for their hard work in the tech deparment, and for deciding to volunteer to ride the barrel.

Thanks to Zelk for her tireless efforts, and giving AL a long deserved break in Adminship as well. Enjoy some time away:) Thank you Ronan for stepping up, even if for a term, once again. Adminships really are the ultimate expression of self-abuse, and I hope yours goes smoothly without much grit between the gears!

Thanks for those who gave their time to make ALFA a better place, in the past and the future.

And as my first act as evil overlord... I leave!

I'll only be sporatically available until Sunday, due to holidays. I'll be doing what I can getting the 1.89 ball rolling again, though.

That poor bugger. I'd need a holiday too if someone told me I was TA.
