A Land Far Away

How many players travel between servers? I know IC it must be considered a long trip, probably taking months by ship. Is somewhat regular travel frowned upon or encouraged to support player base?

I can say that my PC has travelled to Baldur's Gate once with IC reason to make the trip. He stayed probably a week RL and then made his way back to the Marches. I plan on taking him back to Baldur's Gate when an opportunity arises to see all of the wonderful work the builders have done, especially Mr. Duncan, since I first visited.

That said, I would not make it a habit of jumping back and forth between servers, especially 2-3 day rl trips.

I can see a bit more lenience with this when the Western Heartlands goes live, as travel to TWH from Baldur's Gate area would esentially be walkable as they are connected geographically....but since TSM is so far from those two servers, I would expect travel to one or the other from TSM to be a major deal for a PC, and likewise travel from those two to TSM.

But then... it's roughly only 10 times the distance from Silverymoon to Rivemoot. And by boat.

I've done a fair bit of travel between TSM and BG. Not frequently, mind you, but as much as IC reasons and time allow.

A : DM farmers

I don't know, rorax. DMs can't travel between servers, so I don't know how a DM who is a farmer would be able to.

Been once from TSM to BG. Was on server a few RL weeks then back to TSM.

My PC needed strong IC motivation to go. RP was that of a lengthy sea trip and return journey spanning months.

However, my old PC would travel a signifcant bit between The Long Road, Waterdeep, and occoasionally Daggerford. These were geographically linked though.

*shrug* For our purposes any servers that are connected are contiguous. Stop beating yourselves up about how long the journey takes.

Mostly I just really want to see the new builds and interact with a few new faces. Sounds really fun, but unfortunately with all going on in RM right now, I can see no reason to make the trip IC.

If you want an IC reason, it's easy enough to give you one. Just let me know.
