Help Wanted: Lead Admin
Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:27 pm
Between having my kid home for the summer from school and upcoming travel plans, my time for the next three months is about to become severely limited. I do hope somebody out there feels the desire to take on the thankless, stressful, all-consuming, patience-requiring, generally powerless and ultimately very rewarding position of Lead Admin. If you think I jest, please think again. For compensation, you get to work with some of the finest, most dedicated creative minds in the community. Oh, and hey! With 100+ forums, there's always reading material for your downtime.
ALFA is a great big family divided by a love for the same game. Starting soon, I can't give it the attention I'd like to, until September. If you feel you can fairly advocate for all branches of this family (even crazy Uncle Leroy who you don't like) and serve as a vote-enabled figurehead with vital powers of appeal and veto, now's the time. Think before you self-nominate: can I heal instead of harm? Can I unite instead of divide? Am I doing this for ALFA? For me? To put into place a specific policy or trend? The results for the latter reasons are likely to severely disappoint not just you but your electorate and a disappointed electorate (even if not your own) is a trip through all levels of the inferno.
I'll be around for the summer, just much less and sometimes not for weeks at a time. My DMing is going to have to go off-schedule and become a once-in-a-while thing, too. That'll go back to schedule in September and come December, I could well toss my hat in the Lead ring again. Until then, though I'll maintain my DM status for those times I can get on and DM, and I'll build whenever I can, I'll take a spot in the cheap seats and see what ALFA feels like from the non-Admin side.
Good luck to any serious candidates!
