i've started to check out more NWN2 servers (read: 2) since MotB has come out and one thing that draws erksomes from me is the camera. I normally play with the Camera following you mode as i'm used to this type of play, being able to see who's attacking from the direction that i react to...
but it seems default is that you looking continually from one cardinal direction (and that chances when you exit and enter buildings). what settings do you choice to have the camera follow you normally?

Unfortunately the reset that occurs on some building area transitions is something you just have to live with for now. I've gotten used to it, but it's still an annoyance.

I have to say I'm getting more optimistic - the camera option additions that came with 1.10 / MotB did a lot for my enjoyment of the game.

What reset are you referring to? I've never had any camera changes from ATs, maybe someone's just doing them incorrectly.

Frequently, when transitioning from an outdoor area to an indoor one (or vice versa) the camera angle will reset itself to one similar to what you see in default character mode. If you normally play in this mode, you won't notice any change. If you instead play in strategy mode with the camera zoomed out some distance, you'll find the camera zoomed in and at a different angle than what you had before the transition (although you're still in strategy mode). You then must manually readjust the camera yourself.
Two examples: entering the Veil Theater, and leaving the temple of Kelemvor. ATing into Mulsantir from the world map also does this.

Hum. I play in zoomed-out strategy mode and haven't noticed that. The closest thing is that the camera will push in right when you exit, because of the building in the way, but as soon as you move or rotate away from trying to look through the building it returns to its original position.

set the camera to center on the PC in strategy mode. Hold down the scroll wheel to change the camera angle. Zoom in and out by turning the scroll wheel. That's all you need to know to give you any view you could want.
