There's a difference between enchantments, and an actual spell in your weapon.Veilan wrote:I dunno.Adanu wrote:YOu can't really roleplay out your sword having a spell in it, after all :p
Magic, and enchantments on weapons, seem pretty common in the FR.

Re: PrC help
You would have at least some options: people frequently try bad/inefficient solutions before getting good ones. Perhaps a spellsword hopeful would invest in weaponry that has command word or spell trigger spells on them: "This here is my acid arrow sword; it works on charges. Maybe that was a bad idea! This here is my burning hands sword; it's use per day... which I guess is nice, but it's hard to fight and aim at the same time."Adanu wrote:There's a difference between enchantments, and an actual spell in your weapon.
And then as bonus cookies, you've demonstrated a serious investment in the concept, and can help explain the character's eventual getting better at it (if the PrC is ever implemented) with his having learned from his earlier mistakes. And if the PrC never gets implemented, you still have swords that shoot fire and acid and cool stories to tell.
// edit-- double bonus cookies: get a sword with ghost sound; that way both readings of that last sentence work.

Re: PrC help
I did suggest some relatively cheap options. A charge of spell trigger acid arrow in a bad slot is 135 gold, and burning hands 1/day on a bad slot is 540 gold.Adanu wrote:This assumes I have the coin to spend on such things
But yeah, not every character is going to have a lot of liquid wealth. Might have to fiddle and fenagle to work as much, but a character with 1000 gold (which is achievable for mid levels, generally) can get a few thematic doodads, as long as they want theme and story instead of world-shaking power.
Re: PrC help
With the prices being that low, you never know, some kindly DM just might GIVE you an item, surprise! that will help you on your devoted quest to develop your PC's advancement... crazier things have happened.
And what do you mean Zyrus has no money? He's given Bu thousands over the years.

Re: PrC help
Useful upgrades that I know are decent with 500 gold or whatever is not the same as fiddling around with various ideas. If I had thousands to spend, sure.Galadorn wrote:With the prices being that low, you never know, some kindly DM just might GIVE you an item, surprise! that will help you on your devoted quest to develop your PC's advancement... crazier things have happened.

This isn't tabletop where gold is plentiful each session.

I believe the joke is that some things are attractive when you're blue, hairless, and esthetically muscular-- and don't apply so much when none of those things are true.
