For this testing yes-- you're welcome to gank things with stupid stats on the ACR if you'd find that fun; if the PGing is bad enough that the PA would do something on a live server, I just won't use data from that character for CR norming.

Obviously another implication of not being on the vault or database is that no one will care about characters with level adjustments (though I wager that we'd end up demonstrating how steep a price a level adjustment is as part of that).

Seem to be more people interested than people posting availabilities.

Just set a time and we'll see who can make it. i've no idea when I could.
Something that would likely cater to most people. weekend? hours that could match euro and us maybe?

If you build it they will come. (wrong movie? still applies though i think)

Yeah, I tried that scheme back when I was DMing-- as it turns out, I'm bad at picking a time that's good for people out of a hat.

So give me a ballpark. :P

... all righty.

I seem to recall fair availability of people on Mondays anyway, and the DMA / DMA Staffer can hit Monday evenings.

How many people would show up Monday evening, 2100 U.S. Eastern (2000 central; 1800 Pacific; 0100 UTC) for an hour or two?

2100, that's my 9pm, sure, I could find an hour or more without too much trouble on a Monday evening typically.

I'll try for next Monday, then (Oct 15).

The server's gonna be dev haks server side and released haks client side-- this might result in some odd blank-line selections when making/leveling a character, but all I can really say is "Don't pick those" -- I need the dev haks on the server to do this. We'll go with level 5 toons; I'll have a levelup lever in the start area or something like that to put test characters at level 5 with target weath according to standards. The module I'm planning on is small, so there shouldn't be a lot to download for walkmeshes (and all but one of them are shamelessly poached from BG's list of generic/unlinked and OOC areas-- so someone who lacks time and can spot those can probably just copy those walkmeshes and only have to download the arena).

I have three fights planned currently and might come up with a fourth, though I'm not going to post what they are so that we avoid any unconscious "building for" the fights-- you'll know what the average player knows when building a character: that it's in Forgotten Realms, and therefore the world is both dangerous and magical, and most of it wants to kill you for one reason or another.

Given that we're short on people, I'll be asking everyone who shows up to roll a PC. I'll make some vague reference to rule 3 of Fight Club (if it's your first night, you have to fight) or such. If folk attending want to coordinate classes or builds or such, that's fair game: we allow real players to do that too.

And I'll post here when the server's on the desired haks / hooked up to the autodownloader.

Sounds fun. I guess some level of coordination between people interested would be good, it may be that if it's a short list we may find ourselves rolling up a couple of PCs and logging in and out. Would be worthless to find "okay, we have a 100% tank-ish looking set of PCs, the AI isn't really able to show that some monsters react to squishies especially once demonstrating spellcaster ability."

I don't have any big plan on what I'd try to use, but maybe two sort of opposite type PCs, a heavy melee type and some kind of caster or light armor guy. On the assumption "attendance light, may find self running in with more than one type of PC."

If folk would like to roll a toon or two ahead of time, there is an ALFATestServer under PW Story, with the password bl4rgl-- it should synchronize with ACR v1.88 for clients and a relatively-small set of .PWC downloads.

The start area contains a lever next to the start merchant, which will give 10,000 XP and 11,700 gold (or, more accurately, set your XP and gold to that; pull it as a level 10 and it'll make you a level 5).

The start merchant has also been given a double butt-ton of consumables and a bunch of +1ish permanent gear. People who will be participating are asked to spend at least 1/3 of their money on consumables (or, if you don't, don't spend 2000 gold-- this is to represent the losses your character would take from pawning consumables to buy more/better permanent gear).

We ought to be set to test stuff this Monday, at 2100 eastern.
