Looked good in Firefox ESR 10.0.6 - - it's still "a big brown outer part" and "a blue forums thing inside" but that'd change with screwing around with themes and preferences on my end. Main difference I guess was none of the internal scroll bar stuff that I guess was at issue earlier for some tastes or use of mouse wheels etc.

Can you test it again and tell me if it is acceptable ?

There is a shortcut here :
http://www.alandfaraway.org/forum
Looks good!

Some issues you'll run into, though:

1) Theme: The forum looks really out of sorts. Just needs some graphic elements replaced and a couple CSS changes though.

2) Legacy Links: Old links are going to be broken. That is, if the new URL is to /forums it will create an infinite iframe loop, and if it's to /forum you're going to get broken links. This can be fixed by either creating redirection php files in /forums/(phpbb3files).php, or more cleanly through a .htaccess rewrite rule in the /forums directory that moves requests to /phpBB3.

3) New Links: Using the new /forum URL, how can someone easily grab a link to share with others? Hard to do, since you're using an iframe. I don't use iframes myself, but there is probably something you can use (body load event) to launch javascript functions in the parent pages. From there you can dynamically embed the iframe using PHP and parsing anchor variables. Example: You click a link. Iframe loads, your URL now changes to, based on the load URL, something like http://www.alandfaraway.org/forum#?f340t47975

4) Tabbed Browsing: Opening pages in a new tab will break all forum integration, loading only the forum. You could do some fancy javascript here to to replace links, perhaps.

5) Wide Images: Wide images will be a pain to view and deal with, unless you know how to middle-click to pan the iframe's area of focus. Widening the site's main layout could accommodate these images better.

---

Is the security issue just with the 'you have a new PM' portion of that drupal plugin? Could we instead just delete that functionality?

I was able to see a bar on the frame in Chrome.

Initial steps to reproduce issue:

Method 1

1) Click your link
2) Click ALFA General Forum
3) Click any topic. Notice the bar has appeared.

Method 2

1) Click your link
2) Click ALFA Elections Forum. Notice the bar has appeared. Note: Clicking the Alfa Elections Link once in this forum from the breadcrumb on the toolbar will make the scroll bar disappear.

However, after various refreshes I am not seeing it using Method 1. Could have just been a caching thing. Method 2 still bring up the forum with a scroll bar on the frame.

Reading forums works without messing scrollies. (On firefox) However:

The fixed width leaves 5 cm black margins on both ends of my window, as opposed to stretching to fit to the view. Looks odd. Also posts show as very long and narrow (short lines), but I suppose that's a point of preference. Guess a way to fit to each's own would be nice.

When replying, the overlapping scrollies are back. (Looks like the reply screen is too wide for the slot it has within the webpage) Using the scrollies are unfortunately rather unbearable, as the left-right scrollie is on the bottom, to which the up-down scrollie must be used to get to.

Yes there are still problems with some very wide pages that don't go in the narrow width of the style.

T-ice, the solution is to use the non embedded design instead:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpBB3/

I have also managed to restore the style with the good colors and stuff.
You can change it in your User Control Panel BUT you'll likely need to clear your browser cache for it to work.

I don't know if this is important. I've gotten everything set back up so the colours all match, my forums are embedded and my signature link works again. However, I notice when I have the forums open in any way, that when I try to sneak a look at who is on the servers by hovering my cursor over the server name, the list never appears. The cursor changes to a question mark still. But when I'm on the front page, the list shows up when I hover the cursor over the server name.

Ah yes that's a known problem with iframes.
I'll keep working on the second solution that should solve this problem hopefully.

It's way more complex to implement so no ETA on this.

The prosilver-embed is the good old look. I can't see the edit button for posts when I'm using it unembedded, though. Un-embedded is fine, but I've grown to like the old look, and am exhibiting resistance to change...

Yes there are still some problems with CSS like that.

I'll try to fix them.
