Toughness in PnP gives your PC 3hp, once only. However, you can take the feat multiple times (source: PHB 3.5).
Improved Toughness in PnP, which is a fighter bonus feat only with a +2 Fort save prereq, gives a bonus of 1hp per Hit Dice (source: Complete Warrior, Libris Mortis, also MMIII).
...
I guess the NWN2 Toughness feat is more like Improved Toughness, than normal Toughtness, but the drawback of fort save or fighter class prerequisites isn't there. If instead the drawback is "anyone can take it, but it has to be at level 1", well, at least every class other than Fighter gets a shot at an advantage they wouldn't have gotten in PnP, and hopefully fighters are drinking from the bonus feat firehose happily for a long time, without sadness over lack of exclusivity on the feat.

A problem I see is that dwarven defender requires the feat (and for a good reason, that class is all about stacking HP) so any dwarf fighter must burn their level 1 feat on it just in case they eventually go DD.
I don't see that the extra HP you gain is a big deal anyway since you get max HP at each level.

Then I guess they ought to be tough from level 1 onward, i.e., plan ahead?
Several years of NWN1 play in ALFA never generated a Dwarven Defender, though there were sure plenty of dwarves. Beats me if anyone will get the itch in NWN2.

PrC requirements will take all ALFA changes into full considerations.
Now, there's no point in bemoaning and being aggressive about something here; PMing me your opinions in a civil fashion so I can post them on the Standards boards where appropriate may do more good.
As I stated before, I didn't support dropping toughness to level 1 only myself, but such is life people - not all things are going to come up as we want them. Participate constructively, or don't.

The power of concealment lies in revelation.

Perhaps that when someone goes over to review PRC requirements (add perform to SD, etc) this person will have to take revmoved/restricted feats into account.hollyfant wrote:Meaning...?Veilan wrote:Veilan wrote:PrC requirements will take all ALFA changes into full considerations.

I have yet to see an explanation for why toughness is a level 1 only feat when its not in PnP. Even if the implementation might be slightly different.
What is the point of removing energy resistance feats also? By the time most classes get them or can take them, they are not that big a deal. Frankly, a 5 point resist is not that big a deal. Can someone exploit a particular mob that does a certain type of damage? Sure.
That depends on having A) Chosen that resistance and B) Farming it is exploiting. Deal with it as that. There is so much out there that a PC will run into, especially a flexible DM, I don't see the point. It doesn't stack either. So again... why if it is canon?

Whats the rule on warlocks and multi-classing? can one start a PC in something or other and then take levels in warlock later, or must one start off as a warlock?Veilan wrote: Warlocks are not available for the live start, but principally supported. We hope to address all outstanding concerns once Favoured Souls have been released.

Energy resistance from feats or class abilities also do not stack with items. I think that was the major concern with them in the first place so I see no reason to still disallow them.MShady wrote:I have yet to see an explanation for why toughness is a level 1 only feat when its not in PnP. Okay then I'm not seeing the point here. Especially when it is a CANON class feature and a significant one at that for some. It's no more powerful than a character with a 5 pt ring. Now, that's an expensive ring yes. Should a character be getting a class feature worth 8000 gp for free? Well... yes. Alot of class features are worth alot when broken down into loot. Still not seeing a point.
There are alot of ways to get killed - I can understand offensive nerfing alot more than defensive nerfing. Its not unbalancing to survive.
