Here is a rough picture of what I was thinking with my initial "North".

It could be shifted north/south/east/west or enlarged or made smaller depending on desires.
PCs: NWN1: Trailyn "Wayfarer" Krast, Nashkel hayseed

NWN2: ??

I don't think this is a final poll. We are just trying factor where the first area of ALFA 3 should be. There were 22 people interested in ALFA 3 from another poll. So lets see where those 22 people want it to start. I am hoping more of the Waterdeep crew weighs in as well, because Ayergo is a superb builder.

If we want to start a new poll of up to 20 options, list all the areas of Faerun first, then narrow down the area, and do more polls to refine it further. We need a solid consensus, but also remember your favorite area might not make it in for the first area, but we hope to have more.

It is in Alpha right now, but I believe we need to have some foundations decided before we plan, such as what version of DnD, what time, and what area.

Version is 5e. This seems almost unanimous, even after the poll suggested otherwise, given those looking into development. Time and area are definitely unknowns.
Part of ALFA since May 2000.

I don't mean to be a pain in the arse but we should probably have another go at the poll.

Let's refine the big areas list down to a potential viable list under 20. Probably by excluding any that we have done before (Waterdeep/BG/Dalelands) and any that have no interest so far if needed (eg. Annorach). That gives us a big area starting point and from there we can discuss what would be the heart of that server, which town/city is home base and interesting points we want to include. As well as good spoke connections etc

I also think a pick as many as you want or multiple (say 3-5) votes per person is good. Depending on what the forums can do. I know I have a few favourites and many I would be happy with and a few I would hate. Being able to vote multiple let's us get closer to something everyone can at least live with territory rather than just knowing favourites only.

Also if this is going to happen put me on the list for more involvement.

Building / scripting / light tech / organising. I'll find a way to carve out some more time.

Should we set up an alfa3 discord to keep discussion easier?

Discord would great, and please whittle down the areas. But also make sure there is a decent amount of source material for the area, including town maps. Daggerford was easy to make because of the abundant source material.

My understanding is that we are not doing alot of the places that are included in some of these areas
Sword Coast includes Waterdeep, Daggerford, Baldur's Gate, Bergost, Naskel - not doing Them
Silvermarches includes Silverymoon, Sundabar, Moonwood - not doing them
Western Heartlands - Soubar, Hills Edge- not doing them
Nelanther Isles/Moonshae Isles - Not doing them

I am sure there are more but you get the picture, I know some of us have our favorite areas that we know by heart, but we may all have to step out of our comfort zones if we want something new and shiney.

The General consensus is that we Start with something NEW not the same thing we have done in ages past be it NWN1 or 2
and I would say that the first 3 servers all be New places but that's just my opinion

There's a super secret loa-dev channel in the ALFA discord. It's set to private due out of necessity. I'll create a legends-of-aria general channel too. I've added you to the loa-dev one, and will do so for anyone that has a history of contributing who wishes to do so for that.

From this vote I would say Savage Frontier is the area with over half the votes. If you make it a port city, islands might even get in, or at least the connection would be easy to satisfy the other 4 votes.

I changed my vote, I like Moonsea. Hillsfar and Zhentil Keep, along with Ironfang Keep for wizards and Citadel of the Raven for an allied army force. It has everything for everybody.

No legal disputes and Hillsfar and Zhentil Keep are very well known for FR fans.
