Remember that time we split the party three ways... Argos ran off to murder some prisoners, Venali dimension doored away from all those giants and humanoids, and well... some of the party had to hold off all of them giants?

I bet a last stand painting could be good, I think there was still Vellya, Icarium, and probably Njall stuck on the field with Golinar!

Ugh...I'm not sure I want to revisit that experience anytime soon. And it'd be my own character front and center again, the whole point being to avoid that!

I'm working on painterising all the drawings I did for that campaign anyway, so there'll be more Golinar.

Afterthought: Not a very heroic last stand in any case. Everyone running to hide in cave from giants, Golinar taking a wrong turn and ending up in a cul de sac on the mountanside, then knocked down and brained by said giants. A sad end.

Could you provide some more details? Who was "et Co"? Why was the cow exploding? What time of day?

Was years ago. Ronan DMed it. The Lich war, and I think most of the PCs involved are dead/retired. I'll try to dig up a screenshot. I know one of us took one.

Per that rumor post it was actually in 2011. It was 2-3 days of "low level undead waves" for many of the low to mid levels, and whatever Lich encounter for a variety of higher level PCs. PCs cycled in and out for days, but definitely included Drake, Arbitheroh, Rothar, Anchra, Merrin, Rhaggot, Kaleb, Biddle, Scisha...maybe Voric unless this was before his time, there was at least one dead PC of some sort where there ended up being a rage reroll and making half orcs with a friend to grief others. There were most likely a good few others involved, again, it was a very large mass of PCs with a pretty easy common goal of "hey there are endless undead assaulting town, how about we defend?"

I do have better details of the lich fight. Finite group and a clear center of event (five highbies hacking through a swarm of vampires and kicking down the door to a lich-containing laboratory, chasing the lich into a side hall and beating it pieces, taking its head off [again] and then destroying its coffin-phylacetery by throwing an acid bomb at it and then bringing down a nightwalker summoned by the phylactery's destruction before it escaped through a portal), though I don't think the majority of players from that half of the event are still here (I think just me and Xanthea?)

This might look better than a zombie worm eating an exploding cow.

This was half of a larger event (the highbies-- Persephone, Aelynthi, Rani, Olaf, Berendil-- had gone to the lair of the lich responsible to destroy it), so I don't have all of the details of their end, and don't have any logs/screenshots of the bovine detonation tactics. Just hoping that kicking up some details will get memory jogged.
Quick description of each of these highbies?

Quick description of each of these highbies?
Persephone -- albino human female (so everything is off-white; hair is off-white in the direction of yellow; skin is off-white in the direction of pink; eyes are off white in the direction of purple), very short and thin, 19 years old during this fight. Very curly hair which reaches a little past her shoulders. Her features are mostly toward the soft and rounded side. She wore full plate, which just looks like full plate. Her shield is a round shield with a four-pointed star across the front, with a circle that meets each stick of it halfway, and her cloak has a similar design (that being the mark of the Guardians of Light):
Spoiler:
Image
Her helmet is a skull cap with a coronet attached to the outside. Her weapon is a relic mace, which has a head stylized to look like a shining full moon. Everything outfit-wise is white with blue accents.

Aelynthi -- moon elf female, light blue skin, very-dark blue hair, and bright green eyes. She wears her hair straight and parted down the middle, and it reaches the middle of her back; she's average height and weight for an elf and middle aged, with angular features. Her armor is blue full plate with patterns of swirling fire-like white coming up the bracers and down the pauldrons. Her shield is a pretty-unremarkable heater shield, also colored blue, and her weapon is an elven longsword.

Rani -- human female, fair skin, blue eyes, dyed-pink hair (blonde roots) in a pixie cut. She's a bit more muscular than most, but not strikingly so. Her armor is bright red full plate, and she fought with a relatively-simple greatsword, but also had a longsword/shield combination (the shield bearing a rose on the front) ready that I think stayed on her back the whole fight.

Olaf -- gnome male, fair skin, brown eyes, brown hair in a boys' cut. He wore round spectacles and an el insecto beard:
Spoiler:
Image
He wore Silverymoon university robes, (though I can't for the life of me remember what they look like, except "wizardly"-- he got his promotion on TSM after I'd started playing on BG, so I really only saw him when he was in town for the lich) and carried a light crossbow.

Berendil -- wood elf male, tanned skin, short dark-brown hair, green eyes. Average height and frame for a wood elf, but very fit and muscular. He carried a heavy longbow and wore a mithral chain shirt, but covered it all up with green and earth-colored clothes.

We never really got a detailed description of a lich, except that he was shooting magic at us, and would prefer if we would just die.

... I guess this list shows which ones I interacted with the most and remembered the most about. Though we may have made jokes about how everyone but Olaf standing in a row looked like an old Nintendo game (on account of the color schemes).

The two big scenes in this event were either fighting the lich, who we chased out of his laboratory and into a hallway just beside it, with the ranged folk (Olaf, Berendil) firing through the doorway at him and the melee folk (everyone else, holding him against the wall), or destroying his big black stone phylactery with an acid bomb, which released a night walker that was somehow bound to it.

// edit:
Also occurs to me that I'd drawn Persephone and Aelynthi before, which might help:

Thanks Zelk, that is helpful.

Here's what I've come up with so far as an idea:

What does a phylactery look like? A quick google search only brought up Orthodox Jewish forhead ornaments.

Sketch is looking good!

And phylacteries in D&D are whatever shape the lich decides on (though they take their name from little leather boxes that you write scripture on and wear, hence Google's results).

This particular lich made his soul-containing phylactery a big stone coffin covered in inscriptions.

So was this the thing where Drake stayed back at Tempus Tears to lead the protection of the town over the oncoming undead hordes and also nearly got into a fight with Persephone and her crew over a certain imp?

Thanks for clearing that up, I always wondered where the name came from.

Any event in Shadowdale or Glen that you remember well would be a welcome sight.

Also, there was one memorable DMed event, in which Lou's character Elrien was in labor about to give birth, there were several characters present including Gilim and Corwyn I think, the group was in the woods south of Shadowdale, under attack I am guessing by Drow, and the baby was delivered under fire by a high level druidess, Mirriam? I can't remember, but loulabelle would certainly remember more details.
