Broken Portraits
I've noticed we lost all our custom portraits recently. Will we ever get them back? I was quite attached to mine
Re: Broken Portraits
Have tried printing then taping to upper right corner of confuser screen?

Re: Broken Portraits
Custom portraits aren't anywhere in ALFA's standard resources; we don't manage them or attempt to manage them.
There are a few members who distribute big packs of portraits, which you can download if you'd like to get them back, but this isn't something that will be fixed by someone else's efforts.

Re: Broken Portraits
If it's no longer being supported, should the KEMO portrait link on the front page be removed?
Re: Broken Portraits
It's not that it's no longer supported; it's that we never supported it. Portraits rely only on the default NWN2 behavior. If they've stopped working for you, then there's probably something amiss with your particular install.

Is it just me? Do they work for anyone else?

Re: Broken Portraits
Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I'm stupid. I didn't put the portraits in the right directory. It works fine, sorry for wasting your time.
Re: Broken Portraits
Righto, then a quick summary for folk peering in from outside:
-- No official released packs of portraits. Some members have kindly collected big piles of the ones that our members use (Twin Axes comes to mind, I think?), but we don't put them into haks because that'd make it really difficult to make a new portrait for your PC.
-- Your portraits need to go in your portraits directory in your NWN2 home directory (by default, this is in My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/; however, if you're using the command line argument for a different home directory, then they need to go in that one; if you're into this advanced of use of the NWN2 client, I might suggest linked directories for the bits that take up a bunch of space, require manual maintenance, and probably don't need to be distinct between your home directories)
-- Most players distribute their portraits by linking them in their forum signatures. Sometimes the makers of big fat packs will post that they're making a new big fat pack, and the standard courtesy to the rest of the community is to post links to your custom portraits there (so that other members don't need to hunt for your portrait).
