It always seemed, to me, to be a Disneyland take of applying americanised omnipotence fantasies onto the middle ages, everything done in garish and mismatching colours and with little actual culture or engaging narrative. In that way, it's very fitting with the actual DnD game rules, which is also all about teenage power fantasies.

So as far as I'm concerned, we're using FR to shamelessly coast on its brand recognition and "leas common denominator" mass appeal.
Pretty much true , but at least until 1372 / 1358 it had a bit sense of sanity that was lost after.

How is it "secret"? Hm?
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

Well, openly he would deny it and claim he would prefer gnoll butler over elf one.

But if a trusted friend would emphatically talk to Cormac's heart and try to convince him to accept an elf as a butler, maybe just maybe Cormac's sensitive heart will be revealed to the world and everyone would learn that Cormac is actually willing to make compromises under some circumstances.

(It's a step up from making a throne from elven skulls)

I suggest ranting in IRC chat. It much more effective than the forums. You can get the Admin live and get your questions truly answered and fears gently assuaged. You also can chat with Zicada. Good times! :coffee:

Go ahead and lynch me, but I abhor role-playing a world where nothing would be above the head of my PC. There's only about umpteen dozen single-player C"R"PGs that does exactly that, the world existing only at and for the whim of the PC(s). Give me a small-to-medium -sized part in a grand scheme any day. That's what makes a world seem alive instead of just a game. But make that grand scheme a sum of small-to-medium sized parts - only thing more groansome than god-like "game served for you" PCs is NPCs in that role.
