Aw man...

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of W_W, aka Roy. Though I never said this to him: I really liked his advocacy here, no matter if he was right or wrong.

Truly a sad day for me.

My condolences. How very very tragic for you, us and all his friends and family in RL or in our little make believe worlds.
Thankyou for the email.

WW and I used to joke, talk of fishingand hit each other in the head with nonsense; all around fun times. I will miss his being on this plane but I cannot deny the fact that someplace otherwordly is a far better place now because of his arrival.
I will miss you and my condolences to your kin and loved ones.

As every flower fades and as all youth
Departs, so life at every stage,
So every virtue, so our grasp of truth,
Blooms in its day and may not last forever.
Since life may summon us at every age
Be ready, heart, for parting, new endeavor,
Be ready bravely and without remorse
To find new light that old ties cannot give.
In all beginnings dwells a magic force
For guarding us and helping us to live.
Serenely let us move to distant places
And let no sentiments of home detain us.

The Cosmic Spirit seeks not to restrain us
But lifts us stage by stage to wider spaces.
If we accept a home of our own making,
Familiar habit makes for indolence.
We must prepare for parting and leave-taking
Or else remain the slave of permamence.
Even the hour of our death may send
Us speeding on to fresh and newer spaces,
And life may summon us to newer races.
So be it, heart: bid farewell without end.
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

~*Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glitz on snow;
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle summer rain
When you awaken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.*~

Goddammit....

.......

It's all so easy when it's fake names bullshitting on a message board.....

He had such passion......

I don't know what to say. This really really sucks and I'm very saddened to hear of this.

I'm sorry Roy. Rest well.

I found myself tearing up for his family. I'm sorry Ricardo. Make sure to give yourself time to grieve. Don't make yourself so busy you forget to, or it will work its way out in other aspects of your life. It is just a part of the human condition.

I counted WW a friend, though we've never shared a cross word. In our many conversations, he was always level headed and real. He never seemed fake to me. He never put on a show in my eyes.

I will miss his posts, though it was a rare one I could read through. I will miss him in chat dishing out playful abuse.

My regret is that I had not known him in person.

GF's made me laugh with his post about WW's epitaph being 50,000 words long. How appropriate that would be. When his published stuff gets printed, let me know and I'll buy myself a copy(s).

fuck... That really sucks. Roy was a great guy - always use to look forward to a chance to chat to him, whether it be one of his emails with absolutely bizzare subject lines, or his constant teasing in chat. Going to miss the him for sure. Certainly let us know if his works get published.

I'm stunned.

WW was one of the most prolific posters (shock huh?) in the ALFA community, there from the start. He was certainly one of the most dynamic personalities. He was truly a pillar of the community, sort of a pilgrim first settler in a new world, if you will. He posted alongside such ALFAn luminaries of the early days as Mandos, Bane, Gromnir, Pelham, Kalbar, Karen, Don (Darpaek) Ritchie, Kellith, Cespenar, Albareth, Trid, Tris, Burt, Grand Fromage, Kat, indio, Wynna, et al. (I was around then too--there's more names I could list but I need to draw the line somewhere.)

I will always remember those days with particular fondness. We were all so excited about this new medium (NWN) to play D&D in, and had such high flying plans for building all of Faerun, heh! Honestly, in many ways I think we had much more fun planning ALFA than with the actual product.

Anyway, assuming this is for real we'll certainly miss Whitey. He was one of the most interesting community members around. If he was struggling I hope he's found his peace.

I'm crushed. I got back from Australia yesterday and this is the first thread I saw. WW and I spoke about so many things these past four years, comparing and joking about our various injuries and talking about everything under the sun. I understand his message and sincerely wish I had come home sooner. I guess the one thing I'll try to focus on is that he's no longer in pain.

Farewell my friend,

Katie
