Just so there are no misconceptions.
1. DM'ing, but should really manage the other DM's running storylines and plots. 25% DM'ing
2. Building new stuff: 25%
3. Maintaining old: fixing bugs, adhering to standards: 25%
4. Policing, both DM's and players: 25%
5. Not host
6. Not run major campaigns
Just so that people don't have the impression that HDM's
1. Do most of the DM'ing
2. Hatch most of the major plots
3. Host the mods themselves
4. Build the mods themselves
5. Rule the mods
They don't, and shouldn't. They need to delegate hosting and the technical considerations to someone else. They need to delegate the storylines and plots to someone else, but ensure that the plots follow the canon. They need to supervise DM'ing, but not be the main DM. They need to manage builders and new content, they may do some themselves, or delegate builders.
They all need to be seen, to have a presence, even if they do not DM for months, they need to be there for the other DM's.
What an HDM should do in NWN2

Not that I disagree, because I don't.
But, I did all the above for a good year before I had any ADMs. I was the full time DM DM, tech person, building person, policing person, etc. The only thing I didn't do for that whole time was host. But I did it for part of the time.
While I effectively and capably did this, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Some are more apt to burn out than others. And there I agree with Rick in the fact that, the less you do, the more effective you can be and the longer you stave off burn out. So listen to Rick kids.

"You people have not given Private Pyle the proper motivation! So, from now on, when Private Pyle fucks up... I will not punish him. I will punish all of you! And the way I see it, ladies... you owe me for one jelly donut! Now, get on your faces!"

Re: What an HDM should do in NWN2
Just curious about this. Not that I feel that HDMs should or must host their mods themselves, but why shouldn't they, provided they have the hardware and bandwidth?Rick7475 wrote: 5. Not host

Se'rie Arnimane: Time is of the essence!
Nawiel Di'malie: Shush! we're celebrating!
Well, I wouldn't recommend it, but if they have the h/w and bandwidth and expertise, and they want to, sure.
But, it will cut into the other things you should be doing. I'd leave it someone else to take care of the ftp transfers or connecting the vault or ensuring the mod is running at optimum efficiency. Like in my post, managing is what HDM's should be doing.
