How to be part of a group?
the fabled adventuring troupe
I am but pepper to the soup
To stay quiet and silent, a mute

Finding a place is really so hard, you're never quite part of the herd... the only time friends are truly friends is if you can do something of value...

Test me to see if I am a liar
I can not hold against their fire
My status is a commoner to these sires
Trial by combat for situations dire

In a corner who are you? With no option but to fight... are you soft or are you hard, do you have a brain or are you dumb... test you by sword!

Attacked by steel and threatened with death
doubts casting shadow in my laments,
the raised steel brought pain unsheathed
My bag of tricks diminished

Flee and go.. flee and leave, run away run... it's all you can ever do... coward you are, drink your fear and run to no home...

The trial was not the battle as I thought now
Silence was demanded to not speak of it at all,
to wonder if I can survive the adventuring call
All I can say is, these people are brutal

You do not belong... you can not fight what they fight... you have nothing to offer why do you try... Return to no hope...

I dare voice my fears no long silent
Wondering what will be in my lament
My words matter so little damn it,
I can't be suave, correct or eloquent

Speak now or forever hold your peace... dare to speak and know the consequence. You are a trouble maker, marked by your kind...

The crowned king took grave offence
That I feared execution by trial with no defence
I feel I am bulled and I hate being so disgraced
My words as dust upon their face

You broke the secret that you were attacked, threatened to die and cornered... what ever will we do with you now... how can you be trusted..

I am to be ignored now and such is my shame
For I didn't know the rules of the game
It was all a test to see if I was the same
The truth is I am not as them, a weakling, a lame

All you had to do was keep it secret.. let them attack and threaten your life... beat you to within an inch of your life... it's all you're good for...

Often the lowest of the low is treated with disdain,
A commoner soldier not worthy to to live in fame
Die with honour is the only option that remains
Unremembered by unsung deeds in ones name.

Go to glorious battle knowing you can't win... or return to being a punching bag again... fight till the end and die with much pain... try your best not to go insane...

Even these writings mean absolutely nothing
Though I try so hard to sing
My audience is but empty seats
Nothing at all.. nobody all alone...

You have nothing and nobody to help you train, to get any better. Just all you can do is keep delivering letters. Ten gold a day, don't be bitter.

I was born destined to be reviled and hated
It's just the nature of the soul so tainted

You're a terrible bard and a disgraceful ally, you have no place amongst anyone. Go back to no home... go back to no home...

My leaders don't make me feel I belong anywhere.
I just have to die for them somewhere.
Is it a failure of their leadership or my failure to trust
We all do what we must...

You are nothing they were right! The elf's blow strikes! You were told you are but nothing now try to prove them wrong and fight!

... Fight the impossible and die...
True leaders will not advise,
Or make one feel any pride,
Take a sword upon my side

You have nothing to offer but your life... give it now for it's all you have.. you were tested and found to be wanting... your King will whisper...

die...

Soul of the Raven... in honour of the Druid safekeeping Moray Isle.

Something had come...
...
It stirred from the...
deep darkness...

Like a shooting star of fire
It was an omen so dire
The Druid saw from the mire..

Raven soul from the cloudy sky
Heaven calls you one last time
The goddess of this land is hurt
Heal this pain upon divine dirt

The Druid rises to her sacred vow
The strange corruption her mind skew,
Though did not harm those to her rescue
Her will strong even as death was due

Oh soul of the raven’s wing
In heaven you will fly and sing
Your life was given for this land
Passed on now to another hand

A gaze without recognition
Too much time had passed
the evil was consuming
I saw your struggling

Beautiful soul of the ravens form
The time has at last come
We bring one last message for you
Taking your last breath to the goddess home

Goodbye lady and take care
Your torch was passed
and responsibly laid bare
Nature will endure and last

Good bye to a friend of my only true friend...
Nature rebuilds quickly on death
Renew this land with such glory
Your end is thus deemed holy

A bard travels to Lowhill and pays respect to the fallen Raddo. She is alone and spends a few contemplative minutes at the shrines and various symbols of the Hin folk’s customs. She looks upon the statue of Yondalla curious but wary.

“Raddo said I hated everything I ever did... I’ll always remember that exchange. Probably not the thing he wanted to be remembered for. I hate doing this, but I have a soft spot for the hin folk even if they generally treat me with as much contempt as humans.” She takes out a scroll, reads the song and leaves it to the shrine:

A time to part..
Oh hin of large heart...
Embrace....

Though you lay in Earth,
Know you now the warm hearth,
Surrounded by love and mirth,
Do not be sad now...

Oh hin of heroes,
Though so small against foes...
You lived well...
You died well...

A warrior to the end,
The gods see a legend,
Even if life cut short,
Do not fear now...

The light night is bright,
Your soul shining high,
A star for others now,
This is not the end...

Join yourself at your gods side,
Leave this world head held high,
You fought the beasts and made friends,
A true hin to the end...

Having now heard of Toby's death, Cam goes to the next town of Corwell.

A somewhat more personal loss... this time. The loss was taken with some shock, but a respect as she had heard he 'refused' to return. A situation that can only mean, he had found something of great value in the after life, greater and better then anything this world can offer. Not a particular surprise to the tiefling, who would honestly -want- to return and face... all this.

"I have no true song to offer you Toby.. we know with certainty, your spirit is rested and whole. The trials you have endured, sufficient for a place with the divine. Your aspect merged with thought, manifested into the metaphysical and influencing us in ways we can not imagine. However, I hope you will appreciate some... form of a song, so that you will at least know we will carry on... and even if people might not realised it until now, you added a great deal... for better or worse, you brought... me."

Skyward high in the planes of gods
Soaring outwards to ones home.
No harm no pain, no loss any more..
Rest now weary traveller to where you've gone

Where you go, few can follow...
You have at last become whole
A part of yourself is with us now
Forevermore in our hearts

In the wind of the trees I saw three
In lights of fancy and in the stars
Watching you seeing a new
For there is much you wish to learn

Infinite time is now yours there,
you have attained immortality,
Divine you have become for eternity
Earthly struggles are a memory

If there is one thought to remember,
In passing the gates of fugue
Remember the friends who were true
I know they felt far and few

You saved many in this world
Each will protect you now
To find a place away from cold
To a warm heaven oh wondrous soul
