A fresh flood of memories came to the Elf as he stepped through the entrance of the Lady's College. He had been dealing with waves of mixed feelings ever since he stepped off the ship in Rivermoot, of course, but now they began all over again.
Pleasant memories... harrowing escapes... triumph... loss.
Recent losses, one in particular, was foremost on his mind however. Taking a deep breath, Aglaril knocked on the door to Serapheena's office with steady, measured cadence.
"Greetings Serapheena. It's good to see your face after many moons, but I bring you heavy news."
Aglaril held up an object that was damaged but still recognizable... An ID card issued to all students of the College.
Laniara's name was clearly visible.

It’s not the critic who counts...The credit belongs to the man who actually is in the arena, who strives violently, who errs and comes up short again and again...who if he wins, knows the triumph of high achievement, but who if he fails, fails while daring greatly.-T. Roosevelt
