Re: Tavern Knowledge (III) - post your rumours and gossip here
Word begins to spread that the road through the Frost hills has been quieter the past days. Some say that adventurers played a significant role in helping clear the areas and pushing back the undead. How long the relative quiet will last remains anyone's guess.
Further north, creatures called Allips and other walking dead are said to still infest the areas near Fourthpeak. As well, a tenacious band of gnolls has been spotted fighting back against the undead somewhere in the area.

Several waves of goblins are said to have descended down to lower country from origins unknown, skirmishing with kobolds, orcs, and even other goblins as they arrived in the region. A pack of over a score of the creatures apparently were brazen or desperate enough to battle with the Argent Legion forces stationed near Rivermoot's gates.
A trio of adventurers are said to have aided in the defense, then headed further north following their tracks to investigate.

The barkeeps in Rivermoot, Aevishan and Myrtle, are said to have recently returned to work after temporarily closing down the inn (much to the consternation of many) briefly. Upon their return and reopening of the establishment, patrons might notice accoutrements from the Tyrran temple displayed behind the bar upon the wall, including a holy symbol of Tyr, a robe, and a cloak.
Aevishan's complexion seems paler than usual; upon being asked, Myrtle expresses gratitude to the Tyrran priest stationed in Rivermoot for managing to find a way to aid her from poisoning "even without that stupid Eldaas plant stuff"

Rumors circulate around the docks and nearby taverns about a foppish man going about distributing notices, though the attitude of most seem rather skeptical towards said notice.

In Rivermoot two legion men disappeared while taking patrol out at the plantations.
Rumor has it they were investigating disappearance of sheep and failed to return by nightfall.

A quiet young Kara-turan woman returns from the plantation bruised and a bit bloodied. Wilson is informed that his men likely fell victim to some undead that were lurking among the ruins beyond the plantation. The woman indicated she was able to destroy all of the walking dead she found, but that she found neither sheep nor legion men.
The woman was seen to keep her distance when speaking with Wilson. She tried to keep a wet cough under control while reporting, but seem to be finding only modest success. She asked about a reward for the information, but she was overtaken by a violent coughing fit before Wilson could reply. She shuffled off to the Tyrran temple in a cold sweat, still trying to suppress her cough.

"Two men already recovered those bodies just two evenings back. Already brought them to the Kelemvorite for pasing rituals. These two men, a dwarf and a Uthgardt, said they laid low all the undead up there. If you are seeing more in such short time ..... "
The Sergeant's face grows even more grim as he tails off.

The warrior Dane, accompanied by the adventurer Xiu Li, strides into Rivermoot waiving around the bloody, singed and stinking skin of a large troll. He shows it to Sgt. Wilson declaring "I'm a bloody Giant Slayer I tell you, and this is the third giant I've killed in those hills. I'll take my reward now if you please. " Dane asks Wilson whether he can keep the troll skin along with the reward, and is seen inquiring around Rivermoot of various spellcasters and craftsmen as to whether it could be fashioned into the lining of a fur cloak (assuming the stink can be removed of course)made of four wolf hides he carries, and whether the troll's skin would enhance the fur cloak in any way.dergon darkhelm wrote:A patrol bound for Fourthpeak encountered a troll on the trail toward the fort.

Re: Tavern Knowledge (III) - post your rumours and gossip here
As Wildak finished his sprint to Rivermoot, he realized that he still had his weapon -a brand new heavy crossbow- raised. Lowering it as he approached the gate, the thickly built Dwarf took a deep breath and while tugging lightly on his beard he spoke to the two men that bravely stood guard there.
"Men Lizards! They be out there boys" as he spoke he used his hand --the one missing two fingers-- to point towards the trail leading East out of Rivermoot.
"Started with me seein a dead bear on tha road. I looked around a bit an seen there'd bin a fite"
He stopped to take a quick drink from his flask then continued,
"I crossed tha riverr, an seen it maself! half man, half lizard i tell ya. Tha thing was stupid though. Came at me so I put'em down" Pointing at his crossbow he raised his voice a notch "This thingy here shot'em right in the hed!"
A large belch erupted from the Dwarf mouth. "Excussee me. Well..I Just thought I'd let ya know so ya kin tell ya boss."
"I'm off ta get me a drink!" the muscular Dwarf shouted as he began to walk away from the guard towards the inn, the ladies, and the ale...

Re: Tavern Knowledge (III) - post your rumours and gossip here
Dane, Xiu Li and the drunken dwarf Wildak stood among the trees peering across the river. They were certain there was some movement on the far bank, but could tell little more in the dim light. Sgt. Wilson had offered bounty and Dane's blood ran hot in anticipation. The warrior drew his massive greatsword as he stepped into the rowboat. "The dwarf can row. Have your bow at the ready Xiu Li. I smell an ambush." The boat barely made the far bank when several hissing lizardmen came charging towards them. Dane leapt from the boat bellowing a challenge, the battle frenzy taking him. Arrows whizzed by as he swung his blade in wide arcs taking two of the monsters down. Xiu Li was not so lucky, taking more than one arrow behind his charge, but as her blood ran from the wounds her bravery seemed increased. She charged the archers slicing with her strange curved blade swift as a serpent. Lizards fell to her left and right as the dwarf let his bolts, both magic and mundane, fly. Meanwhile, a lizardman adorned with strange beads, shells and arcane symbols painted on his flesh waved his hands in the night air and Dane felt his mind cloud over. As his thoughts cleared, the sorcerous lizard stood before him, its dagger stuck halfway through his mail and its grotesque tongue slithering. With a roar Dane brought down his blade, splitting the thing from shoulder to breastbone. He cut another down, cast his bloody gaze about and saw only his companions standing: Xiu Li quaffed healing draughts while the dwarf looked about nervously. Dane's breath came in gasps and thick blood ran sticky across the grass.
Dane shushed the dwarf as he began to shout, but then saw him pointing down the bank at several dark forms retreating at haste. "Shoot them down!" Dane bellowed. All three brought their bows to bear, then drawing their blades Dane and Xiu Li charged and in short order the riverbank stood quiet. Making their way back to the boat, they noticed the freshly slain bodies of orcs piled near the ambush site. Bound with reeds and shafts for carrying like prey from the hunt they were. They searched the bodies, and on the sorcerous lizard's person found a dirty scrap of parchment. Words in the language of Dragons written upon it: "Meet at the Gibbous Moon. Gifts for bodies." At least that's what the dwarf read the note to say. "Lets go" said the black clad warrior. "We tempt Beshaba lingering here amongst the dead." They tarried only long enough to collect the ears for Sgt. Wilson's offered bounty. Ten pair in all.
Back at Rivermoot Wilson listened to the tale stroking his beard in thought. "What of this note then? What do you make of it?" "Bodies went missing from the crypts not long past as well." The dwarf took a slug of strong liquor from a flask and exhaling sharply with one eye closed, his voice hoarse from drink, said: "Necromancy."
