Updating woes

Post by ImStrokerAce »

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone had any insights into the direction I should go with this...
I have a new comp and I was looking to install NWN2 onto it; that being said, I don't want to go through the painful process of DLing every update. Is there an way to purchase the complete game; updates and all? (I am aware that I'll need to DL the ALFA hacks)
Thanks for any input.

buy it from Good old Games? That's what I did to avoid that. Cost's a little money but no DVDs to worry about.

I was looking at that option as it does seem to be the least encumbered one; I was more praying that there was no updates to manage :-)
Another question if I might; Do you know of any windows 7 64 issues? I saw some folks in the comment section mentioning troubles.
Thanks for the reply :-)

I didn't have any issues on my Win 7 machine. I'm now running it off a Win 8 and XP machine though as the other one died. GOG is the way to go if you want the most hassle free installation. It's twice as easy and twice as fast as installing from discs in my experience.

Another query if I might...
I am having an issue in the form of when I try to connect onto a server I keep getting the game trying to load from disk, and as I don't have a disk in which to load from this is vexing me and my feeble tech skillz...
The question is: How do I change this to load from the drive rather than disk?
Thanks all!

I have windows 7 pro 64bit

runs well with the client extension
and the game through GOG just had to do some hoops to get the CD keys to work right the first time

with out the client extension I had to run it in compatibility mode for XP

I believe I have unlocked the secrets of the CD keys; I think I need more skills points in Tech lore to solve my issue with it trying to load from disc rather then drive... I have the feeling it is something simple that is just beyond my reach :-)

I can't say that I'm super familiar with that particular error-- a fully-updated NWN2 shouldn't need any disk to run and such-- but should make sure all patches are installed, and attempting an uninstall (add or remove programs from the start menu to remove it) and reinstall can clean up old/lingering references to disk drives.

It seems that after a reinstall everything has sorted itself out, this reminds me of the ol' IT Crowd " Did you try turning it on and off again?" Egads; I might be RPing before too long! After the 1300 megs of DL of course. Thanks for the assistance all!
