Help, I just rolled up a dwarf PC on your server. I had a strange thing happen when attempting to log in to WHL tonight. I used the direct connect which had saved the player password, but I kept getting a message that I had an incorrect password. I kept trying to type in {PASSWORD}, but kept getting the same message. I hit the OK button a few time mindlessly, and eventually got a you are Banned message...ugh? Anyway, I keep getting the same message now when trying to log in. Sorry about this, but can you help?

The nwnplayer.ini file controls and saves the settings chosen in the main game client for all modes of play: single-player, multi-player, and server (not the stand-alone server). Below is a listing of the different sections and fields that make up the file.

[Banned Ips] Edit

This section stores the IP Addresses that have been banned from accessing this server.
[Banned Players] Edit

This section stores the player names that have been banned from accessing this server.
[Banned CD Keys] Edit

This section stores the public CD Keys that have been banned from accessing this server.

No idea!

But the password is case sensitive. Does it work on other servers? Is it just WHL that is the problem?

It does work on the other servers. I checked and rechecked my typing of the password. I have on occasion (maybe once of twice) run into an issue where some how, strangely, my keyboard would type completely different characters in the NWN screen. Those times, I simply shut down the program and had no issues. I did that a number of times, while I attempted to log in, but I dont think that was the issue this time. I probably attempted to log in too many times, and it triggered some sort of Ban? That is why I posted the infor on the .ini file. Would it be useful to look at that file in the server? perhapes I have a ban on me there somehow?

wow, I changed CD keys. created a new GSID account and all still say I am BANNED. Must be IP address?

I PM'd Teric to unban you. He usually responds to PMs within a few days.

I have unbanned you on WHL, Lokan.

I am currently installing windows updates on the host and will restart WHL when it's over.

Edit: the server is restarting.

Im sorry guys, I have no idea what I might be doing wrong. I just tried to log in again and immediately get the same "you are banned" message. Is there something in my own files I need to look up?

My bad.

I forgot to check again after rebooting the server.

The server writes to the .ini file when you stop it and I modified it before stopping the server...

Anyway, I hope it should be okay once the server is back up.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to play this weekend as work combined with going out of town for family will keep me away from the gaming, but at least this source of frustration is resolved. Thank you all!
