Re: Suggestions Thread
While on the surface it "seems" fair, the problem would be that the mobs would auto spot at 50 metres, while PC's are the hapless avatars of humans who can't see through foilage and uphills (without constant toggling between camera modes and scanning about). I would think that giving mobs that exact same sight range as PC's would give the mobs a superior advantage and result in constant blindsiding of PC's as they attempt dialogue and/or camera mode manipulation.
If the venerable Hollyfant and HATEFACE think there's a problem, though, I would tend to concede the point (even though Holly has a poke in the ribs coming for his last skill use posts
), but I would suggest incremental change until the right balance is found, and I suspect it would be with mobs still having slightly shorter sight than PC's.

I might suggest that a certain scatterbrained twit return, post haste, to TSM to return some highly unfashionable, though extremely utilitarian, clothing to it's rightful owner, before she gets her bottom paddled by an irate goody-two-shoes.

<paazin> Elves I bet are kinda fun to play.

The merchants are functioning exactly as Ayergo intended them to. Also, I have no idea how to implement this change, should BRM wish to do so.Vendrin wrote:Increase the amount of Gold Lita has to buy gems. she should always be able to buy what you got.

It's kind of OOC not to be able to sell something, but know that once a server reset happens you can, so you lug it around for a while.
All I'm saying is a gem merchant should have more then 1000 gp laying around to buy gems.

Re: Suggestions Thread
I think you hit the nail on the head there johnny. It's unfortunate that there is A.I. omniscience on part of the NPCs. There is also some sort of strange inconsistancy I just cant pin down but I will do my best to try and explain it. Either the NPCs wander about dumbfounded or become aware of you and attack en mass. While its unfair that non-player characters, like us; stumble blindly through the tree cloaked wilderness in hopes of not becoming something's prey. On the other hand you have the ability to track and use survival or lack thereof - From an In Game perspective, you could argue its your own damn fault for not being 'aware' of enemy mobs.
A wolf would attack a armored goon because, well, its a wolf. Orcs. Gnolls, Gibberlings, Goblins, what-have-you, they should be a little more aware than they are. They are sentient, they can think, and surmise, but they don't fucking act like it. Goblins scatter when hit with a overwhelming force. I.e. More numbers. More terrifying - Some sort of intimidate check /bluff. Orcs, gnolls, hobgobs, and others should be more brazen and less prone to scattering depending on their numbers.
I'm okay with them running away only to be picked off. There is always a chance they run into something greater. If only you could get them to stop being afraid only momentarily for them to fire back or charge then return to the flee mode. Something to make them appear like they're not suddenly brainless. What do PCs do when backed by a foe? We retreat and use long ranged weaponry.
Mobs don't seem to mind each other. I find it mighty suspicious to find large spiders, gnolls, skeletons, beetles. RIGHT next to each other and not seem to mind or fight each other. Are they pets? Do the skeletons converse with the gnolls? Are the hobgoblins in the same clan? - Maybe this is just retarded enemy placement, I just don't know. It's just strangely dubious.
AI seems to be an issue with NWN2 but I know for certain that its possible to have way more wicked A.I. than NWN1.

I've seen crashes unique to ALFA and only ALFA. My guess its the nature of the beast. Confirmation can only be achieved through thurough testing. Maybe having it at 35 or so. Try that and see if it works out or not.I'm sure I've seen it mentioned that giving monsters the same perception range as players causes major crashes, but I'd be interested in having that confirmed.

Re: Suggestions Thread
Blame it on the economy! She's not selling gems. She is a cash-cow ready for milking. I'm not saying you shouldn't get shit for your gems. I'm just saying that she is pretty exploitable. - Given the size of ALFAs' Baldur's Gate comparable to the Canon one, she should have less than 1000gp. :p Of course that's just my opinion.Vendrin wrote:It's kind of OOC not to be able to sell something, but know that once a server reset happens you can, so you lug it around for a while.

Re: Suggestions Thread
ALFA's BG is the size of the Canon BG, just need to use your imagination. Due to getting the server live sooner rather then later the city had a few areas cut out, and to fight lag the streets are not crowded with NPC's. BG is one of the largest port's on the Sword Coast, it is a large crowded city just like in Canon, despite the city only having three areas and a couple of shops IG. BG as a server could be just one sprawling city scape like NWN1 ALFA's Waterdeep was but the build team and DM's decided to limit the city to a few shops and faction houses that they believed were needed to get the server live and instead focused on wilderness and dungeon content so the player base could find new and exciting ways to die.

Re: Suggestions Thread
While I am posting in the suggestion thread I might as well make a suggestion.....it has become the norm for the BG player base to drag and drop corpses at the Lathander shrine in lower BG. May I suggest that when a corpse is dragged there the player who has dragged said corpse there create an OOC campfire to place the corpse inside and then put out the campfire with the corpse in the camp fire's inventory. This will help fight lag by removing corpses from the server and it can easily be RPed away as Brother Maynard accepting the corpse and seeing it got a proper burial in the BG cemetery....yes I know the server does not have a cemetery at the moment but once again we are called upon to imagine the city of BG does have a cemetery even if one does not exist on the server at the moment.

Re: Suggestions Thread
Ayergo had asked me to build a cemetery, but I had completely forgotten. I will see about doing that for the next update.
Also, please post bugs in the the bug thread, this thread is for suggestions only.

Re: Suggestions Thread
Then I suggest adding an "open grave" or some other corpse-destroying device. And maybe add a small Lawful bump for disposing of corpses with their inventory largely intact?HEEGZ wrote:Ayergo had asked me to build a cemetery, but I had completely forgotten.
