I guess I should say hello...

Post by Pentagram »

I'm not sure if there is a point to me making an introduction, given the circumstances, but, well, here I am. The reason for my rather downbeat tone is that after I got accepted I started up the game and choosed multiplayer via internet. Logging on, the system told me the authorisation server was down and not all servers were available. Sure enough, checking out the PW Story servers (as I had seen was the way to go according to an earlier post in the forum) I could only find full servers, none of them seemingly connected to ALFA. Instead, I tried to connect via direct connect, using the ip-adress and the password given on this site. The connection seemed to work, but I was told I lacked a necessary expansion pack. WTF!? Yes, sure enough, I had obviously never played Storm over Zehir on my current computer and had only the base game and MotB installed. Easy enough to fix, I tought, and went to get the Storm of Zehir gamebox. I opened it...and found only the booklet with the installation key...no disc. Again, wtf! I'm pretty sure I didn't throw the disc out together with the old computer quite a while ago but I certainly can't find it anywhere. I have a vague hope that I can simply borrow a Storm of Zehir disc from one of my friends, install it with the help of my own installation key, and game on, but I fear that I will have to hunt down a new copy of the game, wherever I might find it, to get this thing going and I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for that. I managed to find ONE online store that still holds the game and to a higher price than what I originally paid. I really don't have the time to go through a bunch of second hand game stores to find a better deal.

Anyway, Hi everyone, I'm from Sweden and was hoping to get online to play for an hour or two now and then, given that I have two little kids to care for. I have a character concept I would like to try out but it requires HDM permission (a drow) and I've seen hints that your first character always dies horribly rather early so I might be better of just going for something else to begin with. That is, if I will actually manage to connect to ALFA at all.

Find the expansion. ALFA is worth it.

Your drow will need special PC approval, yes. Many PC's will meet it with hostility.

Good luck on your second pc.

You might want to test a few other pc concepts out first before the drow. Drow are but rarely accepted, and it would benefit you to get a good feel of what alfa is like (if you do get the expansion disk) before you play something that is KOS on most servers.

Welcome aboard if you do come. I believe that will put us well over our meatball limit. :P

Welcome.

If you can't find it, it's cheap over Steam

Get used to playing ALFA before trying your most favorite character concept. It's a tough world out there, but worth the effort. Great RP fun.

Hey there - could you point me to where it still claims we're on the PW Story tab? Because in fact, we're on the "roleplay" tab for a while now, and such false information should be snuffed out.

Anyway, know we're on "roleplay" should probably make connecting a lot easier... :-)

If you still need any assistance, don't hesitate at all to use our technical helpdesk!

Hope to see you in game soon now.

Cheers,
