horses for all races

RWS is close to releasing its dynamic horse system.
New horse animations
New player animations
New Horse model and textures.

The initial release will be just traveling mounts. The animations included will be
Walk
Run
Walk back
Walk Left
Walk Right
Turn Left
Turn Right

Since the skel was a direct recreation of the NWN2 default horse skel, all the NWN2 stock horses can be converted in just a few min to the new horse system. So i can promise the undead horse will be a usable mount.

With the stock horses and the ones I made and textured, there should be a pool of about 10 usable horses at release.

Showing they are truly dynamic

What do horses cost? I'm cursing the fact my PC just blew all his cash!!!!! I want one. Will they be winnable in card games?

I'm sure AL will comment, but I'd imagine we could use the same logic from our NWN1 horses (which included ride checks while in combat, differences between war horses and normal ones, etc.) pretty easily.

So the major holdup is (was?) actual horse models.

Sweet!

Kert davis can be seen about town, with a leather case, offering new horse owners "equestrine insurance", at very reasonable rates.

In-game video of RWS Horses here.

As many of you know, Hellfire_RWS and brianmeyerdesign have been working on Horses for NWN2 for a long time, and it looks like they're getting close to release. They have asked if ALFA would be willing to be one of a small number of NWN2 PWs to showcase this work on Release Day.

This will require a bit of work on our part - haks need to be modified, scripts need to be created, coordination with the Custom Content community and the other PWs involved. None of this seems to be a deal breaker to me.

As a start, I'm going to sticky this thread. We may want to start additional threads to cover various aspects of the project. As this will also be an excellent opportunity to attract new players, I hope that Lead can help coordinate a PR effort. I would also like to consider opening up a server or a part of a server to Open Admission to make it easy for NWN2 players to get a chance to try this out, and for us to scout out some new talent.

:horse: Any chance of horses becoming Animal Companions?

How would that work, could you combine animal companion skill with a riding skill. so you could have the horse follow you around when your not riding it?

This is not in ANY way "looking a gift horse in the mouth" (yuk yuk yuk), buuuut...

Any chance of unicorns being rideable? Silverymoon (Capitol of our Silver Marches server) was founded on a grove sacred to Mielikki and Lurue, the resident unicorn goddesses, and as such would be a nice touch. (As well, I am told a certain HDM wants to spawn a unicorn model in general in the Mielikki grove...)

I've no idea. I suppose it would give a PC a horse less likely to balk, and with more hitdice.
