MS server offline: TA to resolve

Post by shad0wfax »

Your Technical Administrator (TA) is responsible for finding a new host for the Moonshae Isles (MS) server.

Background:

The new Lead Administrator (LA) decided to draft a Charter change on September 9, 2024 in an unpublished google documents link at the following URL https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bhW ... _j7zk/edit and the LA and TA collaborated on it on September 9, 2024. This was apparently in response to the Infrastructure Administrator (IA) being absent and nonresponsive to admin election result position changes and other IA duties.

The proposed changes eliminate the Dungeon Master Administrator (DMA) and Infrastructure Administrator (IA) positions, combining IA duties with the LA and combining DMA duties with the TA.

From the Charter: https://www.alandfaraway.info/wiki/Charter
Only the Lead Administrator may make formal proposals for amendments and revisions to the ALFA Charter. Proposals from the Lead Administrator must be approved by at least three Admin, and at least 2/3 of a combined vote of the HDMs, vote-eligible Administrator Staff as defined in section 3.5, and DMs casting votes, for the matter to be implemented.
The voting population is as follows:
HDM BG (current DMA, one vote)
HDM TSM (absent and nonresponsive)
HDM MS (Current TA, one vote)
IA (absent and nonresponsive)
PA
LA

There are no vote-eligible Administrator Staff.

The Dungeon Master Administrator (DMA) was not provided with the link, nor was the DMA informed of the proposed changes until September 21, 2024, when voting on the changes went live, where the proposed Charter amendment had the minimum three votes in favor to pass. With the DMA the only remaining vote to be cast, DMA opposition to the vote was provided for the following reasons:

A lack of proposal transparency: it is hosted off-site in a location that cannot be preserved for posterity and can be removed or altered during or after the voting process.
A lack of communication: the proposal was begun on September 9, 2024, with no discussion or collaboration with DMA.
A lack of communication: The TA, LA, and PA did not discuss this in any admin channels, but rather, discussed it privately.
A lack of proper recourse to an inactive and nonresponsive IA: rather than recall the position, the TA, LA, and PA decided to simply eliminate the position.
A lack of causality or logic: The DMA position was eliminated without a reason provided.
