Random Encounters

Post by Wynna »

I'm pleased and proud to announce that the roads of TSM are dangerous again. Yes, folks, you may now travel in complete insecurity on either the Eastern or Western Travel Map. Random encounters have been put back in, now with less 'random' in the landing location. You won't be teleported across the server. You may be accosted by bad guys in more places than previously. Happy now? You're welcome.
Enjoy the game

Thanks! I shall litter the roads with corpses (My own mostly).

Also: don't think we haven't noticed the:
"The griffon bazaar is open, go see it!"
Soon followed by: "The roads will kill you."

To be fair, this is something of a pattern in ALFA. "Hey guys, check out this new content drop! Also, some of the content will murder your face (also it will murder the rest of you)"

Glad to hear the wilds of the Silver Marches are dangerous again. You did remember to put in stuff from the dragon random encounter table, yes?

I'm pretty sure her next post will announce that she removed the ATs on your side of the encounter area! :D

But seriously, thanks a lot for the improvements.

Huh...oh they work...nearly killed me.

Wanted to make sure this is as planned:

Spawned in the middle of the area.
(Couldn't see the name, but am pretty it was that abandoned tower between HH and Great Oak.)
Ogre was a short running distance away and when the screen loaded it was nearly on me.
(Ran to the AT and somehow managed to AT out suffering only one hit for 16 HP...)
Was the middle of the day.
If it was mobs with ranged attacks I could have been dead before the screen even loaded.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to move either of the spawn points a little, or it might be too dangerous for lv1-2 to travel. up to you lot of course.

Thanks again.

If this hasn't been looked into by anyone I can take a look.

Also, note that a certain area where druids hang out may have wild animal spawns present. Undomesticated animals (and a lot of Druids as well!) are by nature wild, untamed things, even if they hang around near druids; please RP accordingly in such places.

Congratulations to Heero for achieving level 2, and then having his druid eaten by a wolf outside of a druid grove. Random encounters to the rescue vs. Heero's ascension to dizzying heights of PC level.

One of my more absurd deaths frankly, but not quite the worst. Whoda thunk them Sylvanus druids would station wolfs right outside their grove for protection from other Sylvanus druids. Not me anyhow.

My own fault, really, for being unprepared, sans animal companion, even, on account of an engine 'feature'. I know how ALFA does and does not work at this point and doing any visitations to places previously 'safe' is best undertaken with friends or not at all. Should've just logged on out.

By far not the worst, tho, a few have been downright embarrassing....

Let this serve as a lesson to one and all!
