Dwarven Warpipes

Post by Inwintersshadow »

I seem to recall there were bagpipes stats at one time in D&D, but am unable to remember the source. Does anyone else remember such and the source for bagpipes stats in D&D? I was hoping to use them as the base for a request to get a set of Dwarven Warpipes made for a Dwarf Bard concept I'm working on....

Thanks,

IWS

How do you mean, "stats"? Weight, hitpoints and hardness?

Do we have an actual model for "holdable" bagpipes?

Whatever would enable a DM to put it in the game. I remember Legionaire was going to do that from way back when in NWN1 but at the time I ended up not needing it as that pc didn't last long enough.

You may have to start then by finding a bagpipe model HAK to add to ALFA.

There is none for NWN2, doesn't seem there were any for NWN1 either... based on a quick search of the "Vault", I see someone once posted an "Idea" but that's about it.

This is a topic near and dear to my own heart. I'll talk to some of the 3D modeler types and see if there's any interest in taking on such a project. In the interim, what about using a horn model, but giving it properties more fitting to the pipes? Or at least something that generates a server message describing the sounds produced? If someone were clever enough with sound editing software, we might be able to put a clip or two of the pipes into our haks, but that's a longish project.

The use of musical instruments as implements of battle fits the dwarven mindset and culture so well - priests of Clangeddin will lead troops into the fray chanting the ehontar - "songs giving fear to the hearts of the craven". I can see battlegroups carrying bardic units attached, with horns and drums (and pipes) to encourage the troops and dismay the enemy, but that may be more of a Warhammer project.

Sounds great Curm..... and apparently I should have taken Legionaire up on him making one when I started years ago.

I've no idea how he planned on doing it.
