So, longstanding consensus among many is that individuals may refuse to be resurrected.
Often times, Elves choose not to be resurrected, to the point that some people with elves who have been resurrected are ridiculed for an OOC choice to keep playing their character.
K. whatever.
HOWever, I was poking around psionics rules and came across THIS:
A soul cannot be returned to life if it does not wish to be. A soul knows the name, alignment, and patron deity (if any) of the character attempting to revive it and may refuse to return on that basis.
A soul knows the name, alignment, and patron deity of the character attempting to revive it?
Discuss!

psionics rules.....
Does the above apply to psionicists only, or do ALL classes KNOW alignment, diety, name ect.
Beyond that...it's the psionics rulebook Jayde. LEAVE ET ALONE!
P.S. Rezzes are for pussies who can't deal with unuberness.

Psionics rock.
"Hey, you're the guy who rezzed me, right? So why are you wearing a Helmite tabard when you actually worship Loviatar?!"
I recall many instances in D&D PnP mods where reference was made to some sicko killing, raising, and then again killing some poor bastard. Of course, that was a long time ago. Wasn't there something like that in the BG mods too? And now it's banned... figures. All the fun stuff gets taken out.
Here all you have to do is worship a deity that has no in-game temple and you can't be raised, and my PC's always do.

Anyone being resurrected/raised knows, whether psionic or not. I don't have the page citation handy, but its the rule from the books.

It's not scion specific. All people know the name, alignment, and patron deity of those CASTING the ressurection spell, and must choose to return.
I cant find the source for it, but theres a reference in OOTS

I've never seen, dealing with Raise Dead, Resurrection, and True Resurrection, any rules stating that the target automatically knows the name, alignment, and patron deity of the raiser. It's certainly not in the descriptions for the spells.
I don't doubt it's there somewhere, but this is the first I've heard of such.

I don't have my books in front of me but I think its somewhere around pg 130 of the PHB after the death and dying.
There's a quip about "getting the soul back into the body" there and I ap fairly confident the alignemnt and patron diety is known to the person beings rezzed..not sure of name 100%

Got it in the SRD 3.5
Bringing Back the Dead: Several spells have the power to restore slain characters to life.
When a living creature dies, its soul departs its body, leaves the Material Plane, travels through the Astral Plane, and goes to abide on the plane where the creature’s deity resides. If the creature did not worship a deity, its soul departs to the plane corresponding to its alignment. Bringing someone back from the dead means retrieving his or her soul and returning it to his or her body.
Level Loss: Any creature brought back to life usually loses one level of experience. The character’s new XP total is midway between the minimum needed for his or her new (reduced) level and the minimum needed for the next one. If the character was 1st level at the time of death, he or she loses 2 points of Constitution instead of losing a level.
This level loss or Constitution loss cannot be repaired by any mortal means, even wish or miracle. A revived character can regain a lost level by earning XP through further adventuring. A revived character who was 1st level at the time of death can regain lost points of Constitution by improving his or her Constitution score when he or she attains a level that allows an ability score increase.
Preventing Revivification: Enemies can take steps to make it more difficult for a character to be returned from the dead. Keeping the body prevents others from using raise dead or resurrection to restore the slain character to life. Casting trap the soul prevents any sort of revivification unless the soul is first released.
Revivification against One’s Will: A soul cannot be returned to life if it does not wish to be. A soul knows the name, alignment, and patron deity (if any) of the character attempting to revive it and may refuse to return on that basis

Is it in the 3.5 PhB, Vendrin? Or even the 3.5 DMG?
Would be weird if they pulled it from 3.5 but then kept it in 3.5 SRD...

Player's Handbook. v3.5. 2003 (First Printing) states on page 171 (in the Magic chapter in later printings -- it is separate from spell descriptions as
Wish and
Limited Wish both have the power to bring back the dead, as do high-level scroll-wielding bards and rogues and epic spellcasters with access to the Life seed).
- Revification against One's Will: A soul cannot be returned to life
if it does not wish to be. A soul knows the name, alignment, and patron
deity (if any) of the character attempting to revive it and may refuse it on
that basis. For example, if Alhandra the paladin is slain and a high priest
of Nerull (god of death) grabs her body, Alhandra probably does not wish
to be raised from the dead by him. Any attempts he makes to revive her
automatically fail. If the evil cleric wants to revive Alhandra to interrogate
her, he needs to find some way to trick her soul, such as duping a good
cleric into raising her and then capturing her once she's alive again.
