Knights of Myth Drannor

Post by Audark »

I've been going through sources and finding small references to the Knights of Myth Drannor, an adventuring band closely tied to the harpers, elminster and the city.

They were first detailed in FR7 - Hall of Heroes I believe, with only minor updates in 'the ruins of myth drannor' box set.

What I'm curious about is what the most recent source on these folks would be. I know there are some novels about them, but I haven't sought them out or read any, and I'm not finding much mention of them after 2nd edition, but I could be completely blind.

I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction, with the city being reclaimed I would guess some of the group would be in and out of the city, and there is a passing reference in the last mythal trilogy that had the knights on some adventure with elminster regarding the srinshee

Thanks for any replys in advance

The MOST current source for the Knights would be a book entitled ," Swords of Eveningstar" by Ed Grenwood. It is the first in a series penned by Ed called," The Knights of Myth Drannor". This book tells the origins of the Knights.
Otherwise, Hall of Heroes (1st edition), is still the best general source. The Knights are briefly detailed in quite a few FR sourcebooks, but they were generally left alone, as per Ed's request.
The original Knights were players in Ed's games way back when, when he was DMing games at the local library. He left their story untold, until he was ready to tell it.
Hope that helps.

I believe Doust Sulwood, the tymoran cleric, ended up in Arabel for a while after the Time of Troubles, aiding the temple there- I seem to recall references to a power struggle of sorts between him and the standing high priest of that temple (being the one Tymora's avatar sheltered in during the godsfall)- the high priest, Daramos Lauthyr, tried to demand Arabel endorse Tymora as it's patron diety. (Forgotten Realms Adventures hardcover, p.74)

The FRCS further notes this temple was destroyed during the sacking of Arabel by the Orcs during the Ghanzeth / Devil Dragon war, and later rebuilt- no mention of whether Doust was still with their clergy through that time.

They are introduced in FR0 (the original box set) which I have, if you need any information from there. The Forgotten Realms Adventures sourcebook (which was somewhat analagous to the FRCS, updated the Realms to the novels around the Time of Troubles), has updates to their class levels as of it's time frame listed under shadowdale's description, p.106.

Dove is advanced to Ranger 12
Florin Falconhand to Ranger 10
Illistyl Elventree to Wizard 6
Jhessail to Wizard 9
Lanseril to Druid 10
Rathan to Priest 7
Sharantyr to Ranger 6
Torm to Thief 7

(the Arabel entry also advanced Doust to Priest 9, of Tymora) )

Let me know if you need any info from the old FR0 source, I can figure out where I put it if so.

Appreciated guys, luckily greenwood has a story in 'the last mythal anthology' 'realms of the elves' that is specifically about what the knights of myth drannor are doing with elminster at the time the city is reclaimed.

Thats the exact info I was looking fo so I just need to order that book.

But thank you for the stats, I do hope to recreate them in NPC form, depending on which would msot probably be around the city... considering their name i assume many would be around Myth Drannor

The "Forgotten Realms Adventures" book is very minimal on the individual Knights of Myth Drannor: the bits I sumarized above are really about all you can glean from it.

The actual bios on the individual Knights can be found in the "DM's Sourcebook of the Realms", which was one of the two books in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting boxed set.

Doust, Dove, Florin, Illisyl, Jhessail, Lanseril, Rathan, Sharantyr and Torm each have a paragraph or two in their "Selected NPCs of the Realms" section (p.17-35). I'd say that's the best source I know of, since it addresses them each individually as campaign NPCs, though being an early 1st edition source, most of them could likely use some updating.

If this source isn't available to you, I might be able to scan a few pages, or type up those bios in a PM, though not likely in the next few days.
