Divination

For rp'ing purposes the cleric spell divination requires as a material component a sacrificial offering appropriate to the deity (3.5 rules).

When I think sacrifice, in my head I'm stuck on blood sacrifice which wouldn't wash with good deities. So if I was a cleric of Mielikki and one of the faithful approached me asking to perform a divination what would constitute a sacrificial offering?

Fresh crops: A handful of [grain] up to an entire field.

Oops, that's Chauntea.

I'm guessing a bow or other possessions valuable to a forester.

Ok so a symbolic sacrifce will suffice. :)

As long as it's a sacrifice appropriate to the boon requested. Rgr20 dropping a single arrow isn't likely to get much. Rgr4 dropping a +1 bow OTOH, is going to feel it.

What he said. But in essence yes, you can sacrifice valuables. Doesn't have to be a blood fest.
