Cross-server chat, minor adjustment thought

Post by t-ice »

The new cross-server chat system is neat. However, since the overwhelming majority of chats tends to be local, it would be nice if the default, unexpanded, window would show only local people. The expanded window showing both separated is great as is. Mixing local and remote folks in the main window shows off the new feature but to me has proven counterproductive in typical use.

two cents with a cheers,
T

We can look into adding an option to change the default behavior (like there's an option to turn off or shunt presence notifications to the combat log window).

When there is more cross-server interaction (i.e. Amn interconnection with BG, WHL interconnection with BG?), there may be more interactions non-local to a server.

I've went ahead and added this in for the next ACR release. To change the default behavior, you can use:

#hideremoteplayers on

To restore the default behavior, you can use:

#hideremoteplayers off

The command is documented in #help and is remembered per-character, global to all servers (but server must be ACR 1.86 or higher to honor the setting while you are logged on there).

That is a smart seeming command. Especially useful, in my opinion, on BG where we often end up with 10+ "already" in the window we want, but interspersed with say another 5 or 6 from elsewhere... either mingling in the smaller window, or taking up real estate in the big window.

Can always type #users I guess if desperate to know who's out there, and then #hideremoteplayers off if you want the full interface again to pester them.
