Re: Diablo III Open Beta this weekend
Trid and I tore through quite a bit of it with the Monk / Wizard team of two after you guys logged off, was pretty fun. Agreed on the voice chat for coordination; is Ventrillo still the best option for a free multi-user audio channel, or is there a better option these days?

Re: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer?
The free downloadable beta doesn't work for multiplayer anymore, now that the real version of the game is out. I picked up the full game last night though, so can still try to get some squad combat in if people are interested. On Xbox live I am (shockingly) AcadiusLost. (Some chance Lou may be on wi...

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer?
I know Lou has a copy of the game now, I haven't bought one yet myself but probably will sooner or later. They've added a horde/firefight type multiplayer element to the game which works best with 3-4 player teams (co-op vs. AI opponents). Any interest in getting an ALFA-team assembled for it? I tin...

Re: (Lesser) Vigor
To clarify, under the proposed change, what exactly would happen with the hypothetical solo PC having LV up when hitting the -6 floor? Currently someone who is lucky enough to make the 2 successive 10% checks (slowing bleeding, stabilization/recovery) will start to recover health until they get back...

Re: (Lesser) Vigor
My thought had been to drop the effect when a PC goes unconscious; still makes it useful for between or during-combat use, but doesn't make it a guarantee of auto-stabilization. Currently any PC knocked into negatives while even a single point of Vigor/Lesser Vigor healing remains, will automaticall...

Re: The -6 floor: Desired behavior & tech rezes.
The way that death magic (and DM kill, amusingly enough) are blocked by the death floor limiter was an unintended consequence of the implementation, rather than a design feature. Certainly wouldn't object to seeing those handled differently. AoE damage makes full sense to push a PC already in negati...

Re: Quick 1.83 "Darkwood" question
As of the last time I tested, armorruleset.2da lines for shields remain totally ignored by the NWN2 engine. Could be Paazin found a way around this somehow, but wouldn't hold your breath on it.

The Tech Admin Position (a historical perspective)
Forgive me if this goes longwinded. As some of you may know, I have been ALFA's Tech admin since a while before we went Live under the NWN2 platform. For many of you, this may represent the duration of your experience with ALFA. For the duration of this span, the Tech department (such as it was) has...

Re: Bard Mechanics/Possible Bug.
Old recurrent bug; When you go through the "adaption" process/convo on entry to the module with a new PC, it's supposed to scan through all your Perform subskills and determine the highest, then adjust your hidden OEI "Perform" skill to match for purposes of inspirations. However...

Re: Please help testing our backup ADL server
From work, using the alternate mapping for download.alandfaraway.org: 120-160 KB/s
Without the alternate hosts mapping (default): 37-46 KB/s
(this is on an 802.11g wifi on the University of Virginia campus)
Will repeat testing from home and post feedback at that time.

Re: Please help testing our backup ADL server
OK, all three servers should now have their hak download priority fixed back to the scheme Hialmar had intended, so please follow his above instructions to test bandwidth and post feedback here. (Any testing done prior to this post should be re-done; sorry for the inconvenience)

Re: Please help testing our backup ADL server
At the time of the last hak release, I'd thought establishment of the newer ADL FTP was mainly as a replacement for the zicada.no one (as something faster/better suited for large downloads than the website/SQL focused main infra hub). I hadn't realized the "load balancing" concept had been...

Re: Please help testing our backup ADL server
May have been some miscommunication here; all the hak downloads are primarily coming from the new download2.alandfaraway.org source presently, so remapping download.alandfaraway.org would only change the source of walkmesh data in most cases. I've been trying to put the fastest option as first targe...
