Re: ALFA Release Notes v1.82
We had a collision of tech improvements over the last 12 hours or so that rendered the new haks un-down-load-able for a few hours- all three servers are working again, now. Big thanks to the Tech Team (Zelknolf, Ronan, Paazin, Basilica), who did essentially everything development and testing-wise fo...

Re: Make ALFA run on Blood Money III
I managed to sneak a donation in on Friday, since they were doing duct work in our lab. Hadn't donated in a while, so I did a double of platelets, plus a unit of reds. They had to try both arms this time since they had some n00b try my good donating arm first. http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8318...

Re: UMD to activate wands
Base NWN2 uses a strange algorithm based on value of the item to determine minimum UMD DC for activation (whether the item is red/unusable), which doesn't really adhere to PnP rules. I coded a system to make scroll activation work by PnP rules (which ended up being a lot more work than it seemed lik...

Starcraft 2: MLG Raleigh
So, as it turns out I know two guys who were planning to go spectate this, so I'm going to check it out this weekend (Aug 27th-28th). Anyone else around the area interested? Looks like a pretty strong field, and Day[9] and Husky are going to be there casting/commenting, so it promises to be entertai...

Moonshaes now shows up in the "Roleplay" section.
Also, ADL should be working again.

Re: Uncanny Dodge Fix
Would the proposed flat +1 AC proposal take into account type of armor worn, or DEX bonus, before being applied? At it's heart, Uncanny Dodge is supposed to help make DEX-based lighter armor types more survivable (specifically in conditions where the critical dex bonus might otherwise be denied)... ...

Re: ALFA & RP Spells
We had the generic placeholders in NWN1-ALFA (never had them in NWN2-ALFA), wouldn't be hard to add a generic placeholder for each spell level to the haks without too much trouble... the problem comes when a DM other than the one whom said spell was used with interacts with the PC, who wants to use ...

Re: Poll: The Seven Minute Hour
Opinions are divided over the effects of a time compression change in terms of primary casters; some say it boosts their power significantly by upping durations of hour/level and day/level spells, others say it limits them unfairly by decreasing availablility of spell restoration during a given game...

Re: An alternative to the OAS
consequently, how are applications being handled currently, if there is no NWN2 OAS? I know, before i left, there was discussion of making an OAS for NWN2, but apparently it fell through. We had a NWN2 OAS for quite a while, based around Soubar, Dragonspear Castle, etc. Teric was the primary builde...

Re: Poll: Open Servers/Clean Vault for Horse Rollout
Not sure what ALFA's version of rideable horses will look like but I have been playing on a Tolkien based server for the last few months and they have had rideable horses for a while now. The animations are nowhere near what you had in NWN1. Basically, they look like a horse with the top half of a ...

Re: Poll: Open Servers/Clean Vault for Horse Rollout
In the interest of time, I'll re-post my pro/cons post from the HDM discussion here so those who haven't already voted can get a clearer idea of what we might be going for here, and why. I'd pitched the L3 start, clean vault suggestion that Loulabelle brainstormed a while back. I've wrestled with th...

Re: Poll: Open Servers/Clean Vault for Horse Rollout
To clarify; we don't know what the final state of the horse models/animations will be yet, so this is planning ahead for the launch. The latest information I've heard is that they will be lacking combat animations, but will work otherwise for all races. This would suggest that they would work fine f...

Re: RWS Horses
As I understand it, the horses will be lacking in combat animations... but there is no reason we can't make them work in the same manner as our horse launch for NWN1-ALFA (persistent creature/henchmen when unmounted, part of the character when mounted, flat/minor speed increase while mounted, skill ...

Re: Poll: The Seven Minute Hour
Maybe a year or two back we did a 2-week trial of the 14-minute hame-hour, somewhere around half of those who voted, preferred it. As I recall, there was an appreciable minority of members weighing in who strongly disliked the longer game-hour, and were not dissuaded from this viewpoint by the 2-wee...
