Familiar modifications are definite on my to-do list, but I don't want them to be disposable meat shields.
I'm looking at a mix, some combat ish like hell hound, and some that boost your skills when they are out. Having appraisal boost might be significant for some chars.

You can come try Waterdeep! It is a lot more friendly for low level, though still lethal if you aren't careful. We also have improved barbarian rage, animal taming, golem crafting, weapon/armor crafting, and even enchanting! Also I'm Euro timezone (mostly). Would love to start up a regular Euro gam...
