Languages

ALFA has adopted the DMFI player tools, which allow you to speak in scripted languages. Your number of languages depends on your class, race, and intelligence bonus. You will be given an option of languages to choose from on first entering the module, which is determined by which server you are starting on, as well as by your race and class.

Examples include:

Chondathan Human tongue, main language of central and western Faerun
Alzhedo Human Language of Calimshan
Damaran Human Language of Vaasa and Damara
Illuskan Human Language of the Moonshae Isles
Midani Human Language of the Bedine and other nomadic tribes
Rashemi Human Language of Rasheman
Shaaran Human Language of the Shaar region
Draconic Language of Dragons, Kobolds, and Dragon-Kin
Druidic Secret Language of the druids
Sylvan Tongue of Fey, Satyrs, Nymphs, Dryads
Abyssal Tongue of Chaotic Evil Outsiders, Demons
Celestial Tongue of Good outsider, Divas
Infernal Tongue of Lawful Evil Outsiders, Devils
Aquan Elemental Language of the plane of Water
Auran Elemental Language of the plane of Air
Ignan Elemental Language of the plane of Fire
Terran Elemental Language of the plane of Earth
Undercommon Tradespeak of the Underdark

You will be allowed to select one extra language per point of intelligence bonus your PC possesses. It is recommended to select languages suitable for your character’s background, very few first level characters will have had a chance to learn exotic, planar, or secret languages. In order to speak in these languages, select the DMFI dialog button, and type in the language box after selecting. (Note- a display bug may label the box as "undercommon” at first, but this does not affect the actual language chosen. Also, use of more than one apostrophe or quotation mark may disrupt the DMFI translation.)

Your words will broadcast using a letter-replacement code, and be translated automatically for any other PC speakers and DMs as messages in the server information window. Also, this dialog box may be used to “throw your voice” to RP as your familiar or animal companion without possessing, if you have them as your active target.
